Pre-biotics

Prebiotics are a type of dietary fiber that nourishes and supports the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, promoting a healthy balance of microorganisms in the digestive system. Unlike probiotics, which are live bacteria found in certain foods and supplements, prebiotics are non-digestible carbohydrates that pass through the digestive tract intact and serve as food for probiotic bacteria. Prebiotics primarily consist of soluble fibers such as Xylooligosaccharides (XOS), inulin, oligofructose, fructooligosaccharides (FOS), and galactooligosaccharides (GOS), which are naturally present in a variety of plant-based foods. These fibers resist digestion in the small intestine and reach the colon, where they ferment and stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria, such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli.
